Intraoral Cameras

Given how they work, the intraoral cameras in our office have many good uses. The most obvious is that they take up-close images, which our dentists can use to diagnose oral issues. Another is that they assist with patient education; your child can see the inside of their mouth with them. One of these cameras may well give them a clearer sense of how to care for teeth and gums. (Even better, the device would help explain their needed treatment.)

All-Digital Dental X-Rays

It’s easy to worry about how traditional X-rays affect your child. These radiographs can be harmful to human health. That said, our Dexis all-digital X-ray device is a far less risky option. It emits far less radiation than previous kinds of X-rays. The device is thus a far safer choice for digital imaging. At the same time, it takes pictures with greater resolution. Our dentists can then view your child’s mouth more precisely and plan better treatments.

3D Cone Beam Imaging

We’ll use our Dexis 3D Cone Beam Imaging system if your child needs complex and extensive treatment. This machine takes hundreds of images of your child’s face and mouth areas, courtesy of its 360-degree rotating arm. You can trust it to capture your kiddo’s teeth, gums, nerve pathways, and blood vessels. The final pictures will merge into a 3D model for an easier view. Once they have, our dentists will evaluate them to build a precise treatment plan.

Digital Dental Impression System

Kids usually don’t like dental putty. As you might expect, biting this stuff can make a child gag and cause a challenging dental visit. It’s thus a good thing we no longer use that method for dental impressions. Rather, our staff utilizes the iTero digital impression system. This tool quickly scans your child’s teeth in mere minutes. It then displays a 3D model on a nearby monitor, letting us make needed changes to the image. We’ll then send the latter to a dental lab for restoration creation.

Cavity Detection System

Sadly, kids have a higher risk of getting cavities. (Even more so when junk food, poor oral care, and no dental visits are involved.) Detecting such caries early helps them avoid invasive dental care. On the bright side, we can rely on our new and precise cavity detection system. It uses a specialized light to scan the mouth for signs of decay. It can also assess quite small areas, so the system easily lets us build a treatment plan to fill nasty cavities.
